We hosted our first annual winter retreat on 6-7 January at a cabin in the mountains of Virginia and used the time to coordinate summer field sampling, identify short- and long-term research goals, get caught up on writing, and learn rummikub.  Despite the polar freeze (-41oF with windchill!), we had a very productive visit and look forward to going back to the cabin in warmer climes.

For those of you who don’t think Virginia experiences a proper winter…
